Vientiane (VNA) - The Pathet Lao newspaper and the e-newspaper of the Lao News Agency (KPL) on September 10 ran an article praising the Vietnam-Laos relationship.

The article said Vietnam and Laos are neighbours connected by mountains and rivers, and boast close bonds in culture and history. The two people have stood side by side during the past struggles for national independence as well as the present cause of national defence, construction, and development.

The relationship, fostered by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, and promoted by generations of the two countries’ leaders, States, and people, has become a symbol of international solidarity and a valuable asset shared by the two nations, it continued.

The article described the ongoing state visit to Vietnam by Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, which takes place following the state visit to Laos by To Lam in his capacity as President of Vietnam in July, as a demonstration of the great friendship, special solidarity, and the close ties between the two Parties, States, and peoples.

It also commended joint efforts in implementing cooperation agreements reached by the Parties, Governments, ministries, agencies, and localities of the two countries, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the relationship, as well as peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The article highlighted Vietnam’s consistent policy of giving the top priority to developing its cooperation with Laos in an intensive, effective, and sustainable manner, and considering this a strategic task, stressing that the two sides will tighten their coordination in terms of strategic policies and guidelines, and work to enhance mutual trust.

Amidst the rapid and unpredictable regional and international situation, the two countries have shared the view on the strategic importance of the special solidarity, and consented to strengthen their comprehensive cooperation.

The article concluded that Thongloun Sisoulith’s visit is expected to advance the bilateral relations to a new height, for the interests of each country’s people, and for peace, stability, and development in the region and the world at large.

The same day, other major newspapers like Pasaxon and Vientiane Mai, and radio and television channels in Laos made extensive coverage of the visit by the top leader of Laos, calling it a milestone of the bilateral ties./.
