The 9th session of the 7th tenure of the Lao National Assembly (NA) concluded in the capital city of Vientiane on July 21.

Attending the ceremony were Party General Secretary and StatePresident Choummaly Sayasone, Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and NAChairman Pany Yathotou, among others.

During the 21-day session, deputies debated and approved measures onimportant issues, including government reports on socio-economicdevelopment, state budget plans and monetary policy in the 2014-2015fiscal year and the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint several newcabinet members.

They also discussed andapproved a number of new and revised laws, including the Law onCybercrime Combat and Prevention, the Law on Competition, the revisedEducation Law, the revised Law on the National Assembly, the Law onLocal People’s Councils and the revised Law on Election of NationalAssembly Deputies and Local People’s Council Members.-VNA

KPDN Enforcement Director Azman Adam said on May 10 that authorities had made 161 arrests, with the total value of seized goods estimated at 23.17 million MYR (5.9 million USD).
