Lao New Year rite held for Vietnamese Politburo member

The Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party held a traditional Lao Baci ceremony for Le Hong Anh, Vietnamese Politburo member, on April 13 during his working visit to Laos on the occasion of the country’s traditional New Year.

The Baciceremony has been practised in Laos for centuries, often during Laos’New Year (Bun Pi May) festival, where white or orange strings are tiedaround people’s wrists to wish them good luck and prosperity for the NewYear.

Anh, who is a member of the Party CentralCommittee’s Secretariat, extended his best New Year wishes to Laoleaders and people and thanked them for their warm reception.

Earlier, the Vietnamese official received Governor of Laos’Savannakhet province Suphan Keomisay, during which he appreciated theeffective cooperation between the province and Vietnamese localities andexpressed his hope for closer ties to intensify the Vietnam-Laosspecial solidarity.

He also confirmed that Vietnam will exert every effort to coordinate with Laos to maintain bilateral ties.

The same day, he visited the Star Telecom Company, a joint venturebetween the Lao Asia Telecom and the Vietnam Military Telecom GroupViettel.-VNA

16th NA reviews amendments to four tax-related laws on April 21

Lawmakers are expected to discuss the supplementary assessment of the implementation of the 2025 socio-economic development plan and state budget, as well as performance in the early months of 2026.
