Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Japan from November 22-25 received attention from Lao press, with major newspapers highlighting that the visit takes place when the Vietnam – Japan relationship is at the best development period.

Vientiane (VNA) – VietnamesePrime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Japan from November 22-25 received attention from Lao press, with major newspapers highlighting that the visit takes place when the Vietnam – Japan relationship is at the best development period.
PM Chinh's visit will contribute to comprehensively and extensively promoting relationsbetween the two countries, PathetLao Daily, a publication of the Laos News Agency (KPL), reported on November 22.

In an article published on the same day, Pasaxon newspaper,the official organ of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), said relations between the two countries are enjoying comprehensive and substantial development in various fields.

According to the Lao newspapers, Japan is an important contributor to Vietnam's economic development and vice versa. In recent years, the cooperative ties between the two countries have developed strongly, especially in termsof investment, trade, and people-to-people exchange. This shows that the bilateralrelations have become a win-win friendship model which creates a foundation forextensive cooperation for peace and friendship in the Southeast Asia. 

PathetLao said Japan is oneof the leading important cooperation partners of Vietnam and it was the first country in the Group of Seven (G7) to recognise Vietnam's market economy. The East Asian nation is alsothe largest ODA donor, second largest investor, third largest tourism partner andfourth largest trading partner of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister willbe the first foreign leader to meet directly with Japanese Prime MinisterKishida Fumio since the ruling LiberalDemocratic Party won the election for the House of Representatives onOctober 31, 2021, it added.

The Vietnamese Government leader’s visit to Japan is hoped to create a solid politicalfoundation for the two countries to further promote cooperation in various fields, the articles said./.

Death toll from Philippines earthquake rises, tsunami reaches Indonesia, Japan

At least 12 killed, hundreds injured in Philippines earthquake

The port city of General Santos suffered the heaviest damage, with disaster management officials confirming seven fatalities and about 130 injuries after several small buildings collapsed and multiple structures, including a key bridge, sustained severe cracks.
