Officials from the Lao National Committee for Rural Development and Poverty Eradication on August 14 had a working session with the Steering Committee for Tay Nguyen Central Highlands in Dak Lak province on new-style rural areas in the region.
The visiting guests showed interest in how to build and multiple good models as well as to mobilize the resources among local community for the work.
They also studied the ways State-run businesses provide assistance to rural communities and farmers and measures to enhance the operational efficiency of agriculture cooperatives, thus enabling low-income people to get easier access to the market and agricultural services.
The Lao delegation suggested the Steering Committee and Central Highlands provinces creating all possible conditions for Vietnamese businesses to make investment in their country, helping improve the living standards of Lao farmers.
Earlier, the delegation had toured Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces to share experience in the field.
The Central Highlands, which comprises five provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong, counts 15 communes meeting all 19 criteria, including building infrastructure, improving production capacity, protecting the landscape and environment, and promoting local traditions and culture identities.-VNA
