The Lao Prime Minister, Bouasone Bouphavanh, has sent a message of sympathy to his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Tan Dung, over the great loss of human life and property caused by floods and landslides in the mountainous northern provinces.

PM Bouphavanh wrote: “On behalf of the Government, the people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and myself personally, I would like to extend the deepest sympathy to our fraternal Vietnamese Party, Government, and people, as well as all the affected localities and families of the victims.”

“I hope that under the leadership and care of the Party and Government of Vietnam, and with the Vietnamese people’s tradition of mutual assistance and support, the flood-hit northern provinces and residents will overcome these difficulties and resume their normal lives soon.”/.
