Hanoi (VNA) – Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh has hailed the upcoming Vietnam visit by Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his spouse from January 6-7, saying that the official visit takes place following the Lao leader’s assumption of office, underscoring the utmost respect that the Lao Party, State, and Prime Minister hold for Vietnam.

The visit will reaffirm the enduring stability of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, the diplomat said in an interview recently granted to the Vietnam News Agency.

During the visit, the two PMs will hold talks and co-chair the 46th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee to review cooperative relations between the two Parties and countries; deliberate on strategies, policies and measures aimed at enhancing bilateral comprehensive cooperation to bring practical benefits to their people, as well as supporting each other at global and regional forums.

Despite complicated developments in the region and the world, both Laos and Vietnam will affirm their highest priority to preserving and further expanding their special relationship, considering it a valuable asset and a legacy for future generations, she said.

Additionally, she urged businesses to enhance cooperation and connectivity through joint workshops to share experiences, explore potential areas, and facilitate mutual assistance.

In order to sustain the efficiency of bilateral economic ties, the ambassador suggested that the two countries’ ministries and agencies should effectively continue with the signed plans and cooperation programmes, ensuring mutually beneficial collaboration.

Additionally, she urged businesses to enhance cooperation and connectivity through joint workshops to share experiences, explore potential areas, and facilitate mutual assistance.

About plans to further nurture bilateral special ties, the ambassador pledged to push forward closer political collaboration by working closely with the two countries’ agencies and localities on strategic issues, regularly sharing information at various levels through the Party, State and mass organisation channels.

She also committed to addressing new challenges in national defense and security, fostering infrastructure and tourism connectivity, and ensuring more effective coordination mechanisms at global and regional forums.

Lastly, she pledged to step up Laos-Vietnam special solidarity among people from walks of life and youths, work with relevant sides to prepare a dossier to submit to UNESCO for recognition of the Laos’ Hin Namno National Park as a transboundary natural heritage site together with Vietnam’s already established UNESCO natural World Heritage Site Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park./.
