Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– The Party and State always care for every family and stay consistent with the policy of "leaving no one behind", State President To Lam stated while visiting residents of Duong Lam ancient village in Hanoi’s outlying district of Son Tay on June 27 on the occasion of the Vietnamese Family Day (June 28).

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of some leading infrastructure, energy, and environment enterprises of China in Beijing on June 27, part of his trip to attend the WEF’s 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions and bilateral working sessions.

- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing attended and delivered speeches at a conference on the two countries’ cooperation in transport infrastructure and the role of their businesses, held in Beijing on June 27.

Vice Premier Zhang said that Vietnam and China have both land and sea borders. Traffic between them is connected not only by air and sea but also by road and railway. The two sides have cooperated in several Vietnam's transport projects such as the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line in Hanoi. Read full story

– The 15th National Assembly (NA) on June 27 passed the Law on Roads, and the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety in its ongoing seventh plenary session.

Specifically, 447 out of the 454 deputies present in the sitting, or 91.98% of the total number of deputies, said “yes” to the Law on Roads. Read full story

- The Border Guard of the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang and relevant agencies have made every effort in encouraging fishermen to strictly comply with regulations on seafood exploitation at sea to ensure no violations relating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in foreign waters.

Thanks to relentless endeavours, since 2022, there have been no fishing vessels from Tien Giang reported to have committed such an act. Read full story

– Scholars from Vietnam, Russia and many other countries have been gathering at a symposium in Moscow from June 26 to 28 to discuss issues in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and feasible solutions.

The event aims to define the current situation in the GSM based on reports from experts, and the prospects of researching development issues in the region, as well as the viewpoints of particular countríe in the region, thus seeking methods and orientations to settle regional issues. – Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat had a meeting on June 26 in Berlin with scientists and intellectuals of the Vietnamese origin in Germany to listen to their policy proposals and answer their queries, towards promoting scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries.

Dat said that a contingent of more than 500,000 overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, many of whom hold important positions in reputable research institutes, universities, and business corporations around the world, is valuable scientific human resources for innovation in Vietnam, including contributions by Vietnamese scientists in Germany./.
