Vientiane (VNA) – China has invested in 160 projects worth 2.75 billion USD in Laos since 2011, bringing the number of Chinese-invested projects in the country to 760 with registered capital of 6.7 billion USD.
The figure made China the largest foreign investor in Laos.
According to statistics from the Laos-China Cooperation Committee, two-way trade grew stably from 2011 and 2014, but sharply decreased in 2015.
Laos-China trade value reached 1.3 billion USD in 2011 and increased to 1.7 billion USD in 2012. The figures in 2013 and 2014 were 2.7 and 3.6 billion USD, respectively.
However, it dropped to 2.78 billion USD in 2015 due to the global economic crisis and falling prices of several commodities, especially minerals and rubber.-VNA
