Laos reduces quarantine period for visitors to 7 days

The Lao government has cut the required quarantine period for new arrivals from 14 days to seven days for certain groups of visitors.

Vientiane (VNA) - The Lao government hascut the required quarantine period for new arrivals from 14 days to seven daysfor certain groups of visitors.

According to Deputy Head of the Prime Minister'sOffice Thipphakone Chanthavongsa, ambassadors or embassy staff, representativesor employees of international organisations, and their family members thatarrive in or return to Laos must take an RT-PCR COVID-19 test and undertakequarantine at their own residence for seven days.

The Lao government's representatives at every level whowork or attend seminars abroad, and Lao nationals who return from abroad, musttake an RT-PCR COVID-19 test and await the result within 48 hours at anapproved quarantine centre. Those who receive a negative result may thencontinue quarantine for seven days at their own residence.

Investors and business people must take an RT-PCRCOVID-19 test and await the result within 48 hours at an approved location.Those who receive a negative result may conduct their business but will berequired to wear a wrist monitor for seven days.

Foreign nationals who arrive in or return to Laos fromabroad must take an RT-PCR COVID-19 test and await the result at an approvedquarantine location. Those who receive a negative result may then continuequarantine for seven days at their own residence and will be required to wear awrist monitor.

All foreign nationals that reside in Laos are requiredto download and use the Lao KYC mobile phone application (Lao SU SU service)for the purpose of creating a vaccine ID to be used as digital confirmation ofvaccine status. The app is to be used to determine one's health status uponentry into government offices, restaurants, shops and other public areas.

As of February 4, the total number of confirmedCOVID-19 cases in Laos reached 135,660 with 562 deaths./.

Death toll from Philippines earthquake rises, tsunami reaches Indonesia, Japan
