Vientiane (VNA) – The two-day official visit of Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith to Russia from September 26 was a milestone in the traditional friendship between Laos and Russia, according to Lao media.
At talks between the Lao PM and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, the two sides lauded the friendship and cooperation based on trust and mutual support.
Both leaders agreed that bilateral relations have been thriving through leaders’ visits, while affirming that they will strive to bring relations to a new level.
They also committed to boosting cooperation in economy-trade, investment, energy, education, culture, health, science-technology, travel, telecommunication, defence and other fields of mutual concern, along with continuing high-level visits and efficient implementation of cooperation deals.
On the occasion, the two countries inked seven documents, including agreements on criminal extradition and air transportation, energy and mining, raising capacity in countering money laundering and terror funding, and military technology.
During his visit, the Lao PM also met with Chairwoman of Russia’s Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.-VNA
