Largest transport project in Hai Phong begins

A transport development project which is the largest of its kind in the northern city of Hai Phong kicked off on December 20.
A transport development project which is the largest of its kind in thenorthern city of Hai Phong kicked off on December 20.

The 276.6 million USD project, supported by the World Bank, includesthree sections, notably the construction of a main road for the city’sEast-West transport corridor that connects Bac Son commune in An Duongdistrict and An Hai district.

Linking Hai Phong port andNational Highway 10, the 50.5 metre wide road includes the constructionof two bridges, Dong Khe and Niem 2.

According to ViceChairman of the municipal People’s Committee Dan Duc Hiep, the projectaims to facilitate the inner-city transportation system and commoditytransport between Hai Phong and neighbouring localities.

Whenthe project is finished, Hai Phong city will put into operation a widerange of quality buses to improve the public transport service in thecity.-VNA
