Speaking at the ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang stated that President Ton Duc Thang was a shining example of a communist who overcame many challenges in the prisons of imperialists and the fierceness of war to devote all his life to the cause of national liberation and the happiness of the people.
He was an outstanding figure for the national unity policy of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, Sang said.
President Ton is an example of revolutionary morals with his virtues of modesty, simplicity, industriousness, thriftiness and honesty, the State leader said, adding that he is the pride of the Vietnamese Party and people.
Since it was established in 1988, the memorial site has been open to visitors every day. Every year two large festivals to mark the birth and death anniversaries of President Ton are held on the site.-VNA
