Law on Legal Assistance focus of NA discussion on June 1

The draft revised Law on Legal Assistance was the main theme of discussion during the June 1 plenary session of the 14th National Assembly under the chair of Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Hanoi (VNA) – The draft revised Law onLegal Assistance was the main theme of discussion during the June 1 plenarysession of the 14th National Assembly under the chair of Chairwoman Nguyen ThiKim Ngan. 

Chairman of the NA’s Law Committee Nguyen KhacDinh presented a report on adjustments to the draft revised Law on LegalAssistance based on collected opinions. 

Legislators then gave opinions to contentiouscontents of the bill, focusing on its structure, principles of legalassistance, the State’s relevant policies, a code of ethics of legalassistants, financial resources for the work and legal assistance in poorlocalities. 

They also mulled over legal aid beneficiaries,the operation of the State’s legal aid centres, the scope of legal assistanceand responsibility of concerned agencies. 

In the afternoon, Minister of Transport TruongQuang Nghia presented a proposal on making the work on compensation and relocationof residents into a separate component in the project on building the LongThanh international airport. 

After Vu Thanh Hong, Chairman of the NA’sEconomic Committee, delivered a report assessing the proposal, law-makersdiscuss the issue in groups. 

The NA is scheduled to examine the draft amendedLaw on Technological Transfer and the draft Law on management and use of weapons, explosivesand supporting tools on June 2.-VNA

2026 inspection-supervision decision for NA Party Committee's Standing Board announced

The NA Party Committee is ready to cooperate closely, promptly provide relevant documents and materials, and work in accordance with the delegation’s requests. PM proposes “Talented, creative and dedicated women” award

This year’s award went to a group of female scientists from Hanoi University of Science and Technology for their research cluster on applying biocatalysis to enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural products. The individual award was presented to Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Viet Nga, Director of the Vietnam–Japan Institute of Advanced Technology and senior lecturer at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, for research linked to environmental protection, energy security and climate change adaptation.

Vietnam co-chairs 5th ASEAN–UK joint cooperation committee meeting

Ambassador Ton Thi Ngoc Huong, Head of Vietnam’s Mission to ASEAN, affirmed that Vietnam will work closely with ASEAN member states to achieve the objectives set for the fifth anniversary year. Early voting completed in Con Dao special zone

Vietnam, Russia step up cooperation in civil defence, emergency response

Looking ahead, the Vietnamese side expressed its wish that the two sides would continue to promote cooperation, focusing on the exchange of delegations at all levels, training programmes, sharing of experience in civil defence, disaster prevention and emergency management, and exploring search and rescue equipment.
