His Holiness the 12 th Gyalwang Drukpa, who lives in India, and about 130 followers of his lineage that started 800 years ago in Tibet, held a grand requiem for martyrs and victims of natural disasters at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda in HCM City on Nov. 16.

The ceremony attracted members of the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council, members of Sangha’s HCM City chapter and more than 5,000 Buddhist followers.

On behalf of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Most Venerable Thich Duc Nghiep expressed his delight at the presence of his Holiness the 12 th Gyalwang Drukpa.

Gyalwang Drukpa stressed the importance of holding the grand requiem and said that he and the Drukpa Sangha wholeheartedly wished for Vietnam to become more stable and prosperous.

The delegation will stay in Vietnam until Nov. 18, with activities scheduled in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Quang Ninh among other provinces./.
