Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the Red River Delta province of Thai Binh to strongly develop high-quality agriculture and production connected to processing and sales.
The province should also tap its potential in the sea-based economy and aquaculture for further development, the Party leader added while working with the provincial authorities on January 21.
He expressed his pleasure at the achievements the province has made over the past three years, including an annual average GDP growth rate of 9.1 percent and per capita income of 26 million VND (1,238 USD) on average, up 61 percent over 2010. The province earned 975 million USD from exports, 2.2 times more than 2010.
Thai Binh province has ensured agricultural development, boosted new-style rural development and developed large-scale farms with high economic efficiency, generating a food output of nearly 1.1 million tonnes.
General Secretary Trong praised the provincial Party Committee for strictly implementing a Party resolution on Party building.
He asked it to work harder to fight against the degradation of political thought and virtue, uphold the role of the Party members and create a close relationship with local people.
Thai Binh province proposed the building of a costal economic zone and a costal highway and the upgrade of a transport route linking regional provinces.
On the morning of January 21, the Party leader also visited Thuy Van commune, Thai Thuy district, a model in new-style rural area building.
He offered incense at a memorial to Nguyen Duc Canh, one of the leaders of the Vietnam revolution and trade union, to commemorate his great value to the country.-VNA
