The Ministry of Justice held a workshop to consult businessmen, lawyers and legal experts about a draft law on legal document issuance in Hanoi on June 12.

There are currently two laws guiding the making of legal documents, one issued in 2004 and the other in 2008. While both laws have contributed to improving the overall quality of legal documents, their implementation has shown a number of drawbacks, including the overlapping of authority in promulgating legal documents, the large amount and limited quality of documents.

Following a strategy on completing the national legal system through 2020, the Ministry of Justice has drafted a new law combining the current two and reflecting the 2013 Constitution’s content.

Lawyer Nguyen Tien Lap, Chairman of Vietpro Consultants Co. Ltd, proposed more detailed regulations and guidance.

According to Head of the legal department of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Dau Anh Tuan, the business communities appreciate the efforts in opening up the process of policy making to the public.

They hope the new law will demonstrate significant progress of transparency and advances, noted Tuan.-VNA
