Participants at a seminar in Hanoion December 17, organised by the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids andSocial Affairs (MoLISA), also said the framework should fully reflectthe sense of responsibility and performance of branches and agenciesduring the implementation of the law and the project as well.
The framework and guidelines will help supervise and assess thetranslation of the Law and the project into synchronous policies andsolutions at ministries, branches and localities.
Vietnam now counts 6.7 million disabled people who make up over 7 percent of the country’s population.
The Government has made huge efforts to help the group improve their living standards and integrate into the community.
In 2007, Vietnam inked the United Nations Convention on the Rightsof Persons with Disabilities. Three years later, the Law on Personswith Disabilities was promulgated. Last year, the Government approved aproject to support disabled people during the 2012-2020 period.-VNA
