Legislators discuss socio-economic development, state budget plans

– Lawmakers deliberated the supplementary evaluation of theimplementation of the socio-economic development and state budget plans for2017 during the National Assembly’s plenary sitting on May 25 which was chairedby NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Thelegislators discussed the implementation of the socio-economic development andstate budget plans in the first months of 2018 as well as the state budgetbalance in 2016.

Theyalso looked into a report on the performance of thrift practice and wastefulnessprevention in 2017 during the sitting which was broadcast live by VietnamTelevision (VTV), Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and NA Television Channel.

Thelawmakers basically agreed with the contents mentioned in the reports, analysedthe achieved results and shortcomings and put forth solutions to successfully accomplishthe set tasks in order to ensure sustainable socio-economic development.

Ministerof Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong and Minister of Planningand Investment Nguyen Chi Dung cleared up several issues raised by NA deputies.

Asscheduled, the lawmakers will continue discussing issues related tosocio-economic development, state budget and state budget balance in the May 26morning sitting.

Inthe afternoon of May 26, the legislature is expected to deliberate a draft resolutionon settlement of arising matters in managing state budget 2017 and state budgetestimates for 2018.-VNA

452 lawmakers, or 94.56% of the total number of deputies present, voted in favour the revised Law on Corporate Income Tax, while the amended Excise Tax Law was adopted with 448 out of 454 deputies present voting in favour, accounting for 93.72% of the total.
