Seventy long-tailed macaques were released back to their home at Ba Mun island of Bai Tu Long National Park in the northeastern province of Quang Ninh on August 14.
Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, the park’s deputy director, said that his park received those monkeys from the Hanoi Wild Animal Rescue Centre.
They were seized by rangers of the central province of Phu Yen from an illegal transport ring in 2010.
Scientifically known as Macaca fascicularis, the monkeys are listed in the group of endangered species restricted for exploitation and use for commercial purpose.-VNA
