Malaysia and Australia have agreed to set up a join anti-terrorism committee in a bid to address issues relating to terrorist acts in both countries.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between the Australian envoy on anti-terrorism Bill Paterson and Malaysia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Hishammuddin Hussein in Malaysia on April 28.
Hussein said that the new committee would have a structure and operational mechanism similar to the previously-established joint committee on human trafficking which is performing very well.
The committee’s first meeting is expected to take place in Kuala Lumpur in 3 months and will draft regulations for its operation and a number of specific cooperation programmes./.
