Malaysia is ready to host the 26th ASEAN Summit, which is scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on April 26 and 27, 2015, said Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Malaysia aspires to carry out measures that are truly based on the vision of a “people-centred ASEAN", he said in his Facebook posting on December 13.

However, Najib Razak said the goal of regional unity, stability and prosperity is not Malaysia's alone, rather it is a vision which Malaysia has committed to, adding that the country will also work towards realising the goal to be a community as it shares common aspirations in political security, economic and social-cultural aspects.

Earlier the same day, he visited the main venues for the 26th Summit, which will be the first event to be held after Malaysia assumes the ASEAN chairmanship beginning from January 1, 2015, taking over from Myanmar.

Head of Logistics of Malaysia’s ASEAN Secretariat 2015 K. Ilankovan said in addition to the 26th Summit, the country will host the 27th ASEAN Summit from November 19-21 later the year along with related meetings with the bloc’s seven dialogue partners, including Japan, China, India and the US.

As a curtain raiser, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat will be held in Kota Kinabalu city on January 27-28, during which regional foreign ministers are expected to discuss priorities for the grouping in 2015 and the ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision.-VNA
