Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - The Shah Alam High Court of Selangor State of Malaysia on January 22 resumed the hearing for Doan Thi Huong, one of the two suspects in the murder of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) national Kim Chol in February 2017.
The court summoned four witnesses who are technicians watching the camera system in Kuala Lumpur airport to verify the accuracy of videos cut from security cameras in different positions.
According to Maridam, Huong’s interpreter at the trial, the witnesses affirmed that all the videos they provided to the police were from the camera system of the airport. Maridam added that physical and mental conditions of Huong were stable.
This was the first hearing for Huong and the other suspect, Siti Aisyah, an Indonesian citizen, in 2018. It is scheduled to last until January 24.
The next trial is slated for January 29-30, so that all hearings for the suspects can conclude in March.
Huong and Siti Aisyah were arrested one day after the murder of Kim Chol happened on February 13, 2017. So far, both of them have continued affirming that they are innocent as they thought they were joining a harmless prank for a reality TV show. If found guilty, they may face death penalty.-VNA
