Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’s police have arrested a total of 55,903 people, including 2,304 foreigners, for drug-related offences so far this year.
They also seized 82 million RM (18.5 million USD) worth of drugs, according to Malaysia’s Crime Investigation Department Director Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff .
He stressed that the result shows the hard stance of Malaysia on the fight against drugs
The director also said the drugs were intended to be sold locally and its neighbouring countries.
About six to ten years ago, the drugs used to come from the Golden Triangle (a mountainous region between Myanmar, Thailand and Laos), then Iran and now from China, the director added. – VNA
