Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak on April 22 kicked off his nationwide "go down to the grassroots" tour to garner support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the May 5 general election.
The PM’s first stop was in Selangor where he met voters in the parliamentary constituencies at Bandar Baru Selayang, Gombak, Kota Raja, Shah Alam and Subang.
Najib, who is also BN Chairman, told constituents there that the first priority of the BN government, if given the mandate, will be to ensure continuous water supply for the people’s needs and the development of Selangor.
According to Malaysia 's National News Agency (Bernama), PM Najib also announced two additional pledges for Selangor, including reviewing the rate for change in use of agriculture land to industry for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) if the BN is returned to power in the state in the 13th general election (GE13).
He said the current rate imposed by the existing state government is high.
Apart from that, he said, BN will also build new roads in SME industrial areas in Sungai Buloh as the main road in the second biggest area in the country is no longer suitable.
As scheduled, after Selangor, Najib will continue his election campaign in Sabah on April 23 and 24.-VNA
