Manila expands links with Vietnamese major cities

The opening of the air routemarks a very important milestone for Cebu Pacific as it becomes the onlyairline flying direct between Manila and Hanoi , said a Cebu Pacificrepresentative at a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on March21.

The direct route is also a step forward of theairline to the Vietnamese market and strengthening linkages betweenmajor cities in Southeast Asia , he added.

InApril 2008, Cebu Pacific inaugurated the Manila-HCM City directroute and is now operating daily flights between the two cities.

According to Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Culture,Sports and Tourism La Quoc Khanh, the opening of the Manila-Hanoi routeand the upgrading of the Manila-HCM City flights have helped boosteconomic-trade cooperation and open up many business and investmentopportunities between Vietnam and the Philippines .

Together with aviation and tourism cooperation, Manila is speeding upcultural and artistic exchanges with Vietnamese major cities, with twofriendship concerts in HCM City on March 21 and in Hanoi on March 19.-VNA

HCM City to use municipal budget for Metro Line No. 2 project

The Metro Line No. 2 project has an estimated investment of nearly 47.9 trillion VND (2 billion USD) and has nearly completed land clearance, at 99.8%. The NA’s Resolution 188 authorises HCM City to develop seven metro lines spanning 355 kilometres over the next decade, with preliminary total investment for the 2025-2035 phase estimated at 40.2 billion USD.
