A reproductive health project funded by t he Marie StopesInternational Organisation in Vietnam has set to help 70,000 more femaleworkers in southern Dong Nai province access reproductive healthservices from now to 2015.
With additional fundingof 550,000 USD, the project will also provide check-ups for 5,000 poorworkers in the locality, heard a conference on December 12 to review theproject in 2010-2013 and initiate activities to 2015.
During the 2010-2013 period, more than 80,000 female workers in DongNai have benefited from the project, including 1,200 ones who had accessto financially-supported contraceptive methods.
Statistics from the United Nations Population Fund show that one USDinvested in family planning can save eight USD, and help reduce thefatality of mothers and children caused by early birth-giving andunexpected pregnancy.
Dong Nai is home to 31industrial zones (IZs), including those still under construction,according to the provincial industrial zones authority.
The province plans to increase the IZs to 34 by 2015.-VNA
