Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Maxis Bhd of Malaysia and Chinesetech giant Huawei on October 3 sealed an agreement on 5G service provision inMalaysia.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by MalaysianPrime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
In his remarks, PM Mahathir said collaborationbetween a global tech company and a local business was important to support athriving technology ecosystem in Malaysia.
There is no doubt that 5G will be a key driver to connecting everyone inMalaysia and transforming key industries such as manufacturing, agriculture andhealth care so that Malaysia can remain globally competitive, he added.
The PM said the impact of advanced technologieson the nation's progress was inevitable and Malaysia could not afford to beleft behind, especially with Industry 4.0 already ahead.
The agreement allows Maxis to have access toinsights, standards, products and solutions that will make 5G easier to adopt,operate and introduce new use cases in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Raja Arshad, Chairman of Maxis, saidas part of the agreement, Huawei would be supplying 4G/LTE and 5G radioequipment and services.
Besides having access to 5G technologies, hesaid Maxis will be able to modernise its existing LTE network to be 5G-ready./.
