More than 4,000 delegates attended a meeting held in southern Hau Giang province on March 22 to mark World Water Day.

More than 4,000 delegates attended a meeting held in southern Hau Giang province on March 22 to mark World Water Day. At the meeting, Head of the Water Resources Management Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Hoang Van Bay called on people to raise awareness of the need for water sources protection. Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh Quang emphasised the necessity for calling on people to avoid wasting water and protect water sources from pollution, contributing to sustainable use of water resources. Chief advisor to the Belgian-funded project to raise assessment capacity and manage Vietnam’s water resources, Martin Junker said that Belgium’s projects in Vietnam will continue focusing on climate change and water resource management. Belgium also pledged to assist Vietnam in reducing pollution of water sources, coping with climate change and protecting and using water resources in a logical manner, he said.-VNA
