Meeting to mark DPRK’s National Day

A meeting to mark the 61st anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea ’s (DPRK) National Day was held in Hanoi on September 1.
A meeting to mark the 61st anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea ’s (DPRK) National Day was held in Hanoi on September 1.

The meeting, co-organised by the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association (VDFA) and the Vietnamese Committee in Support of the DPRK, was attended by representatives from the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, the Foreign Ministry and the DPRK’s ambassador to Vietnam.

On addressing the meeting, the VDFA chairman Pham Tat Dong expressed hopes that the DPRK, under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, would achieve more during its process of national construction, defence and unity.

He highlighted Vietnam and the DPRK’s traditional friendship and cooperation, adding that the Vietnamese people will always remember and thank the DPRK’s Party, State and people for their support during past struggles for independence and the current process of national construction and salvation.

Chairman Dong and the DPRK’s ambassador expressed their pleasure at the development of Vietnamese-DPRK relations and praised the two friendship organisations’ active contributions to strengthening friendship and economic and cultural exchanges between both nations./.
