Mekong delta obtains high GDP in 2010

The Mekong delta region obtained a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 12.2 percent in 2010, doubling the country’s average level (6.78 percent).

Accordingto the Steering Board of the Southwestern Region, over the past year,the region had a total social investment of over 153 trillion VND (7.2billion USD).

The region gained a food output of nearly 21.6million tonnes, more than 1 million tonnes over 2009, meeting domesticdemands for consumption. The region exported 6.8 million tonnes of ricein 2010, the highest volume so far.

However, the region GDP per capita was 21 million VND (about 1,000 USD), lower than the country’s rate./.

HCM City to use municipal budget for Metro Line No. 2 project

The Metro Line No. 2 project has an estimated investment of nearly 47.9 trillion VND (2 billion USD) and has nearly completed land clearance, at 99.8%. The NA’s Resolution 188 authorises HCM City to develop seven metro lines spanning 355 kilometres over the next decade, with preliminary total investment for the 2025-2035 phase estimated at 40.2 billion USD.
