Military bank builds houses for Lao war veterans

Vietnam ’s Military Bank (MB) presented houses to three disadvantaged Lao veterans in Saythany district, Vientiane , on April 8.

The total fund for the construction, 300 million VND, is donated by MB.

MB established its first overseas branch in Laos on December 12, 2010.
After three operation months, MB Laos reported total asset value at16.6 million USD, capital mobilisation at 4.1 million USD and loans at250,000 USD.

In the future, the Laos-based MB will boostinvestment in telecom infrastructure, domestic trade and import-exportactivities, consumer goods production and transport infrastructure tohelp improve Lao people’s living conditions, as well as the country’sdeeper integration into the world economy./.

In the new context, Politburo Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW, dated August 2, 2026, continues to place the preservation of the Vietnamese language within the strategic vision of mobilising resources from the Vietnamese community abroad and promoting Vietnamese cultural values around the world.

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.

Shift to data-driven administrative procedures needs acceleration

Under a draft decree replacing Decree 63, authorities will have to proactively pull information from databases and records for informational or technical procedures. Applicants would no longer be required to resubmit documents, and certification or information requests could not be turned into discretionary licensing through an “ask – give” mechanism.
