The museum, which is currently sited in the centreof Hanoi and boasts around 150,000 objects and documents, will berelocated to an area of 74.3 hectares in Dai Mo commune, Tu Liemdistrict, Hanoi.
A number of research andfact-finding tours have been carried out in both local and foreignmuseums to serve the project.
The committee hasdrafted an integrated scheme on designing the museum’s architecture aswell as forms of display and its content, which was submitted to theMinistry of National Defence for approval.
Atthe same time, it plans to increase the number of exhibits, digitalisedocuments and focus on human resources training.
The museum, previously known as the Army Museum, was founded in 1956and opened to the public three years later. It was named the VietnamArmy Museum Academy in 1964, and renamed the Vietnam Military HistoryMuseum in 2002.
It has so far received more than 17 million visitors, including foreigners from more than 150 countries.
With its unique objects and materials, the museum has become acultural and historical centre and a popular destination among local andoverseas tourists.-VNA
