Dak Lak (VNA) – Authorities in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak have launched a project to construct 4,285 new homes for local poor and near-poor households in 2025, with a budget of 80 million VND (approximately 3,230 USD) per home.
On March 2, the provincial Department of Public Security broke ground on the first home for the family of Y Than Ksor in Kmien village, Ea Drong commune, Buon Ho township. This marks the start of the province’s initiative to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses as part of a national campaign launched by the Prime Minister on October 1, 2024.
Major General Le Vinh Quy, Director of the provincial Department of Public Security, stated that the department has been entrusted by local authorities to carry out the largest ever housing support project for disadvantaged families in the province. The project aligns with the nationwide goal to eradicate substandard houses by December 31, 2025.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve living conditions for impoverished communities across Dak Lak’s townshíp and districts, enhancing social welfare and strengthening public trust in the Party and the government, said Quy.
The department is committed to completing all homes and handing them over to beneficiaries by August 15, 2025, ahead of the 80th anniversary of the People’s Public Security Forces and the Party congresses at all levels in the lead up to the 14th National Party Congress.
Nguyen Dinh Trung, Secretary of the Dak Lak provincial Party Committee, highlighted the broader scope of the province’s 2025 housing support programme, which aims to build or renovate homes for over 7,300 families, including those of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious service.
Trung urged local authorities and relevant sectors to accelerate the construction and ensure high-quality homes are delivered to those in need without delay./.
