Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will tighten regulations to ensure only qualified enterprises are permitted to provide guest worker services.

The ministry plans to impose stricter regulations and requirements on guest worker service providers in Vietnam in order to improve the service quality and prevent frauds. They are required to consistently comply with relevant law to get their licenses renewed.

The ministry proposed an amendment to the Law on Vietnamese Guest Workers in which a business is only granted a guest worker service provision license of up to 3-5 years and if it does not meet certain requirements, it will be rejected for license renewal.

It will also impose stricter penalty on businesses in breach of the law or with poor performance, and conduct inspections regarding the service providers’ organizational structures, recruitment, fee collection, and training courses.

In addition, all labour supply contracts will need to be registered online to the Department of Overseas Labour from July 1 this year.

According to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam sets to export from 100,000 – 120,000 workers annually between 2017 and 2020, 80 percent of whom will be trained labourers.

It also looks to increase the export of workers to such markets with high demand for skilled workers as Japan, the Republic of Korea and Germany, with between 5,000 and 6,000 workers a year.-VNA
