After completing afact-finding trip along the river last week, Le Minh Tri, deputychairman of the city's People's Committee, said the area should focus onmodern agriculture to create high economic value for the city.
At the same time, the development will protect the city's environment,adapt to climate change and preserve national character.
The agricultural areas will be organised to become impressive tourism sites for the city.
The city Planning Contruction Institute has proposed planning for eightcommunes in Cu Chi district – Phu My Hung, An Phu, An Nhon Tay, NhuanDuc, Phu Hoa Dong, Trung An, Hoa Phu and Binh My.
Underthe plan, the eight communes will be divided into 10 subdivisions todevelop agricultural villages combined with tourism.
The institute is currently conducting studies in order to develop plans for other districts along the river.-VNA
