Hanoi (VNA) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has ordered the two northern border provinces of Lang Son and Quang Ninh to re-open some auxiliary border gates and crossings, per guidance from the Prime Minister on border trade activities.

These border gates and crossings include Binh Nghi, Na Hinh, Na Nua, and Po Nhung in Lang Son and Bac Phong Sinh and Ka Long in Quang Ninh.

The ministry said the situation in respective localities will be taken into consideration to decide on the re-opening of other gates.

It noted that only border gates and crossings with high volumes of trade, especially farm produce, fisheries products, and essential materials for domestic production, will resume operation but will only be open for the trade of goods, not for travel.

Authorities in the two provinces have been asked to reach an agreement with their Chinese counterparts while at the same time giving priority to disease prevention and control.

They are also requested to remain updated on trade activities and related issues at border gates and crossings, particularly if there are any sudden policies issued by Vietnam’s northern neighbour, and to report these to the MoIT and relevant agencies./.
