The Government has decided to allocate 3 billion VND (140,000 USD) each year to help find jobs for children of war veterans and former soldiers.

The decision was made after a recent working session between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans’ Association (VVA) in Hanoi.

The Government Office also announced in its Notice No. 222/TB-VPCP that more funding will be allocated to sustain operations of the VVA-sponsored Vietnam Friendship Village , in line with the association’s proposal.

The Government also acknowledged the positive results in the cooperation between the government and the VVA Central Committee, which helped both sides well perform their functions, complete assigned tasks and contribute to the national socio-economic development as well as national defence and security.

The Government asked the VVA to work with the Defence Ministry on plans to provide housing assistance to anti-French war veterans on the occasion of the 60 th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory next year.-VNA
