Hanoi (VNA) – Increasing visits between defence agencies of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) will help bolster bilateral ties, said Le Hien Van, deputy head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Major General Van made the remark while meeting with Kim Heung-soek, Chief Justice of the high-level court of the RoK Ministry of National Defence’s armed forces, in Hanoi on November 23.
He said the RoK delegation’s visit took place amidst thriving relations between the two countries, adding that delegation exchanges will develop defence links, bringing them on par with bilateral ties.
Echoing this view, Kim highlighted progress in Vietnam-RoK relations, including in defence.
The countries signed a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation in 2010 and held a defence strategy dialogue at the deputy ministerial level in 2012.
Defence cooperation activities are being carried out in a result-oriented manner in conformity with their strategic partnership, he added./.
