- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha received British Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Therese Coffey in Hanoi on April 12.

Deputy PM Ha appreciated assistance from the UK and other G7 countries joining the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) for Vietnam to realise the commitments made at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). Read full story

- Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son called on United Nations (UN) organisations to step up collaboration with Vietnam in four prioritised areas at a reception for UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis in Hanoi on April 12.

According to Son, the prioritised areas include mobilising resources to successfully implement the Vietnam-UN Strategic Framework for Sustainable Development Cooperation 2022-2026, which helps accelerate the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Vietnam; and providing policy advice and technical assistance to Vietnam during its socio-economic recovery and development. Read full story

- A delegation led by President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Commitee Do Van Chien on April 12 attended a gathering of Khmer people in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on the occasion of Chol Chnam Thmay, their most important traditional festival.

Speaking at the event, Chien highlighted the local efforts in effectively implement the Party and State's ethnic and religious policies in areas inhabited by the Khmer community, the target programmes on new-style rural building, poverty reduction and ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous area development as well as in providing education and health care for local residents. Read full story

- There is ample room for Vietnam and China’s localities, particularly Guangxi province, to boost trade collaboration, said Deputy Director of the city’s Investment & Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Nguyen Tuan.

Speaking at a conference on import-export cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi province held on April 12 in Ho Chi Minh City, he said the relationship between Guangxi and Vietnam has developed to a new height. Read full story

- A French expert has suggested some measures for strengthening economic links between Vietnam and France during a recent interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations (April 12) and 10 years of strategic partnership.

Dr Jean-Philippe Eglinger from France’s National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilisations (INALCO) said that France was one of the first countries to come to Vietnam when the Southeast Asian nation opened its door to foreign investment and trade in the early 1990s. Bilateral ties have recorded much progress since then, with the strategic partnership established in 2013. Read full story

- The Ho Chi Minh City police announced on April 12 that they has augurated the electronic shooting range using non-refundable aid from the Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK).

From early last year, the Busan Police sent working delegations to Ho Chi Minh City to survey, design, and install the electronic shooting range which has a total investment of 657 million won (nearly 500,000 USD). Read full story

- To promote the circular economy for plastics, it requires a consensus of all stakeholders, from plastic producers and plastic waste management companies to the community, heard a seminar in Hanoi on April 12.

- Vietnamese and foreign classical musicians are set to perform at the Vietnam Connection Music Festival which will be back at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi on April 16 and April 22 following a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival will feature renowned foreign artists such as German conductor Alexander Mickelthwate and bassoonist Sebastian Chaves, along with local artists and teachers of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, reported Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV)./. Read full story
