-President Vo Van Thuong highly valued the diplomatic sector’s contributions to national defence while attending a conference held in Hanoi on April 6 to review the 10-year implementation of the Party Central Committee’s resolution on the strategy for safeguarding the Fatherland in the new context.

-Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 6 received Russian Deputy PM Dmitry Chernyshenko, who is in Vietnam for an official visit and to co-chair the 24th session of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-governmental Committee for economic, trade and scientific-technical cooperation.
The host leader affirmed Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, multilateralisation and diversification of external relations, being a good friend and trustworthy partner of countries, and being a responsible member of the international community, stressing that Vietnam does not choose sides but choose justice and reason.Read full text
-Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Chernyshenko co-chaired the 24th meeting of the countries’ Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation in Hanoi on April 6.
The two sides agreed to effectively implement the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, creating favourable market access conditions for each other, especially concerning their products with strengths and without direct competition.Read full text

- Deputy spokeswoman of the Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang on April 6 affirmed Vietnam’s consistent viewpoint that activities in the East Sea must strictly comply with international law while commenting on the report that Chinese vessel Haiyang Dizhi 4 recently operated in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone.
Addressing the ministry’s regular press briefing, she stressed that such activities must also respect Vietnam's sovereign right and jurisdiction over the sea areas established in line with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).Read full text
-Also at the press briefing, the deputy spokeswoman affirmed Vietnam’s determination to fight illegal migration while responding to the report that seven of the 20 bodies found on the coast of Taiwan (China) carried Vietnamese personal papers and were victims of human trafficking.
She noted the Consular Department and the Economic and Cultural Office of Vietnam in Taipei have been coordinating closely with Taiwanese authorities, keeping a close watch on the case, and assisting relatives of the persons reportedly missing to carry out identification and handle funeral affairs.Read full text
-The Foreign Ministry’s deputy spokeswoman clarified Vietnam’s viewpoint on the report that a documentary film about the search for the missing aircraft coded MH370 of Malaysia contains inaccurate content saying Vietnam did not cooperate to help with the search.
Replying to the Vietnam News Agency’s question at the ministry’s regular press conference on April 6, Hang said that as soon as Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 went missing on March 8, 2014, relevant agencies of Vietnam promptly and proactively made response plans, actively shared information, and coordinated with the Malaysian side as well as other countries wishing to conduct search and rescue on a large scale, while assisting foreign reporters in covering the case.Read full text
-The Ministry of Information and Communications will conduct an inspection of TikTok in May to ensure the cross-border platform's law compliance during its operation in Vietnam.
