- President To Lam on August 1 hosted a banquet in honour of Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta, who is on a state visit to Vietnam.

In his speech, President Lam affirmed that President Ramos-Horta's second visit to Vietnam in his capacity as a State leader not only reflected the warm sentiments of Timor-Leste leaders and people but also generated fresh momentum for bilateral ties to grow more effectively. Read full story

- In a reception for visiting Chief Executive of China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Lee Ka-chiu in Hanoi on August 1, President To Lam suggested the two sides strengthen all-level exchanges, and economic, trade and investment cooperation towards fostering the bilateral relations.

Valuing the first official bilateral visit to Vietnam by a head of Hong Kong since the establishment of the Special Administrative Region in 1997, the Vietnamese state leader expressed his belief that the visit will help promote practical and win-win cooperation between Vietnam and Hong Kong, as well as significantly contribute to the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. During a meeting with President of Timor Leste Jose Ramos-Horta in Hanoi on August 1, Man underlined Vietnam's respect and admiration for the achievements made by the State and people of Timor-Leste in their struggle for national independence in which the President was a key leader honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1996. - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on July 31 suggested Vietnam and China’s Hong Kong to deepen and improve the quality and efficacy of their cooperation in key areas of economy-trade, tourism, education, science technology, law enforcement and citizen protection.

During his talks with Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region John Lee Ka-chiu, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam from July 31 to August 2, Deputy PM Quang expressed his hope that Lee’s trip will be an important milestone to bolster mutual cooperation.
