- President Vo Van Thuong has offered incense in commemoration of some late Party and State leaders, and visited several former leaders on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

President Thuong offered incense to commemorate comrade Truong Chinh, who undertook many important positions of the Party and State during his more than 60 years of revolutionary activities from 1925-1988; and late President General Tran Dai Quang. Read full story

- Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue has recently signed to attest the revised Land Law and the revised Law on Credit Institutions.

The amended laws were officially passed on January 18, as part of the 15th NA’s 5th extraordinary session. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and presented gifts to encourage the forces who are on duty during the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

Visiting and delivering his Tet wishes to workers of the Can Tho Urban Joint Stock Company, PM Chinh highly appreciated the spirit of solidarity, hard work, efforts and achievements of more than 450 officials and workers of the company in recent times. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the seventh meeting of the Government’s Steering Committee for Administrative Reform in Hanoi on February 2 to evaluate the committee's work in 2023 and outline tasks for this year.

PM Chinh, who is also head of the steering committee, underscored that the Party and State view the acceleration of administrative reform as a pivotal stride toward establishing a socialist rule-of-law State, one that serves its citizens with utmost professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the second meeting of the steering committee for the implementation of the National Assembly’s resolution on piloting special mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City.

Issued on June 24, 2023, Resolution 98/2023/QH15 stipulates mechanisms and policies designed specifically for the city in investment management, State finance and budget, urban governance, natural resources and environment, priority fields calling for strategic investors, sci-tech, innovation, and the administrative apparatus of both Ho Chi Minh City and Thu Duc city. Read full story

- Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son has made a series of recommendations on measures to step up cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union (EU) while attending the 24th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) in Brussels on February 2.

Acknowledging positive progress in the two regional groupings’ strategic partnership, the minister stressed the need for resolute and effective implementation of decisions made by leaders at the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit in 2022, particularly regarding economic, trade, investment, sustainable development, and maritime cooperation. He also underscored the importance of fostering new growth drivers such as digital transformation, energy transition, green economy, and circular economy. Read full story

- The prestige and strength of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) are reflected in the revolutionary spirit as well as the spirit of criticism and self-criticism of each party member, according to Dr. Ruvislei González Sáez, one of the leading research experts on Vietnam in Latin America.

Talking to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)'s correspondent in Havana, Dr. González Sáez, a senior researcher at the Cuban Centre for International Policy Research (CIPI), said 94 years after its establishment, the CPV today has become the second largest Marxism-Leninism-oriented political organisation in the world, with a large number of members, just after the Communist Party of China. Read full story

- Trade activities between Vietnam and China have been busy since the beginning of 2024, with a series of border gates reopened and upgraded.

According to the management board of the Dong Dang-Lang Son economic zone, the first week of the year saw the number of trucks transporting goods through six land border gates in the northern mountainous province of Lang Son increased by nearly 300 compared to the previous month. On a daily average, there were about 400 trucks carrying exports and about 800 trucks carrying imports. Read full story

- Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Japan, Australia, Algeria, Thailand and Laos celebrated Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival at gatherings held in their host countries as the national biggest traditional festival is approaching.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Japan’s Osaka city held a Tet get-together for the Vietnamese community and foreigners in Kansai region on February 2./. Read full story
