– National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man called for greater efforts in implementing outlined solutions to better state management in the natural resources and environment sector at the end of the question-and-answer session for the field on June 4.

– Top Party inspection officials from Vietnam and Laos reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration during talks held in Hanoi on June 4.

- Head of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee's Inspection Commission and the Central Anti-Corruption Commission of Laos and President of the Lao State Inspection Authority Khamphan Phommathat held separate working sessions in Hanoi on June 4 with leaders of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel).

BIDV General Director Le Ngoc Lam highlighted the bank's extensive experience and strong presence in Vietnam. With nearly 2.32 quadrillion VND (90 billion USD) in assets and a network of over 1,000 branches and transaction offices at home and abroad. Read full story

– Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the committee's Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia made a working trip to Morocco from May 29 – June 3, which was met with enthusiasm from the host officials.

Speaker of the House of Councillors Enaam Mayara hailed the visit as an opportunity to review the achievements in cooperation between the Moroccan and Vietnamese legislatures. He expressed Morocco's willingness to welcome Vietnamese businesses and investors, highlighting potential for collaboration in the economic and trade sectors. – The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has suggested Vietnamese enterprises further learn about Thai consumers’ taste and the country’s regulations and technical standards to boost exports to this market.

The enterprises were also urged to apply advanced technologies in processing and storing to ensure their products’ quality during the transport process. Read full story

– Vietnam's industrial sector experienced positive growth in the January-May period, with 55 out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide reporting annual increases in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The GSO identified manufacturing, processing, and electricity production and distribution as the primary drivers of the growth. Provinces recording high growth included Phu Tho (31.2%), Bac Giang (24.9%), and Binh Phuoc (14.8%). However, some other provinces like Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai and Ca Mau saw respective declines of 9%, 8.25% and 2.5% in their indexes. Read full story

– The northern port city of Hai Phong attracted 647 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first five months of 2024, up 11% year on year, solidifying its position as one of the biggest recipient of FDI nationwide.

Breaking down the figure, 247 million USD came from 29 newly-registered projects while the remainder was from 19 projects registering for increased capital./. Read full story

Vietnam proposes key priorities for advancing gender equality

Sharing Vietnam’s achievements, Thanh noted that women account for nearly one-third of Vietnam’s National Assembly members; 40% of Vietnam’s STEM workforce is female; 26.5% of businesses in the country are owned by women; women account for 68.5% of the country’s labour force, surpassing the global average of 48.7% and 14.4% of Vietnam’s peacekeepers are women, higher than the UN average of 10.2%.

Singaporean leader hosts welcome ceremony for Vietnamese Party chief
