-Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected some key transport infrastructure and climate change response projects in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on May 12.
He examined the first phase of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project, which has total investment of nearly 44.7 trillion VND (1.7 billion USD). The four-lane road, over 188km long, runs through An Giang province, Can Tho city, Hau Giang province, and Soc Trang province.Read full story
-The Prime Minister and National Assembly (NA) deputies of Can Tho had a meeting with voters in O Mon district of the Mekong Delta city on May 12, ahead of the 15th NA’s seventh session.
Addressing the meeting, PM Chinh, who is also an NA deputy of Can Tho, gave voters a brief review of the country’s socio-economic situation during the first four months, which saw better results compared to the same period of 2023 in almost fields, including the macro-economy basically stable, the recovery trend sustained, inflation under control, and major balances of the economy guaranteed.Read full story
-The United Nations Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group adopted Vietnam’s National Report under UNHRC’s fourth cycle on May 10.

-Vietnam had a very successful dialogue on its fourth-cycle Universal Periodic Review (UPR) National Report with the participation of a large number of United Nations member countries on May 7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet said, adding that the country brought to the session four important messages.
Talking to Vietnam News Agency reporters in Geneva after the national report was adopted by the UN Human Rights Council’s UPR Working Group on May 10, Viet said that the first message was the affirmation of the importance of peace, national independence, and the right of national self-determination to development efforts and promotion of human rights.Read full story
-Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Cameron expressed their delight over the two countries’ strategic partnership which has been developed in a more effective and deeper manner, during their phone talks on May 10.
The two ministers concurred that the two countries need to continue enhancing exchanges of delegations, particularly those at high level, make effective use of existing cooperative mechanisms such as strategic dialogue, defence policy dialogue, and Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), building and implementing the Vietnam – UK action plan during 2024-2026, and supporting each other at regional and multilateral organisations and forums.Read full story

The Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and other international organisations in Geneva made the remark in a recent interview granted to the Geneva Geostrategic Observatory. -Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai said on May 12 that a fire that had broken out at the shopping centre on Marywilska street, Warsaw, Poland, where many Vietnamese run stalls, on early the day, and there was no casualty, but almost all property were destroyed, according to initial reports.
The shopping centre - a large retail trade centre in Poland with about 1,400 stores, of which one third are run by Vietnamese people, the ambassador added.Read full story

-Vietjet opened a direct air route linking Hanoi and Hiroshima on May 12, marking the first of its kind connecting Vietnam and the Japanese prefecture and the eighth of Vietjet between the two countries.
