- Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato' Johari Bin Abdul and his spouse arrived in Hanoi on October 22 afternoon, beginning their four-day official visit to Vietnam.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam left Hanoi on October 23 morning for the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan city of Russia, at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, Chair of BRICS 2024.

- Vietnam aims to turn its Halal industry into a strong economic sector, positioning the country as an indispensable destination on the global Halal map and an important link in the supply chain of Halal products and services worldwide, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated at a conference held in Hanoi on October 22.

The conference, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, aimed to create substantive changes and effectively implement the plan on strengthening international cooperation to build and develop Vietnam's Halal industry by 2030. - The 15th National Assembly continued the ongoing 8th session in Hanoi on October 22, the second working day, under the chair of NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The morning sitting, presided over by NA Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh, saw Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc present a report on the implementation of the 2024 state budget plan, the draft state budget plan and the proposed allocation of the central budget for 2025, and the 2025-2027 financial and state budget plan, on which a verification report was later delivered by Le Quang Manh, member of the NA Standing Committee and Chairman of the NA Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs. - The Party and Government of Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening and developing the friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son told Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei at their meeting in Hanoi on October 22.

Son, who also serves as Chairman of the Vietnam - China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, stated that this is an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and multilateralisation and diversification and external relations. - General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defence, held talks with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Chansamone Chanyalath on the occasion of the second Vietnam-Laos border defence friendship exchange in the northwestern province of Son La on October 22.

Ho Chi Minh City, EU boast ample room for sustainable development cooperation

Since the establishment of their diplomatic ties in 1990, Vietnam and the EU have deepened the bilateral ties into one of the bloc’s most dynamic and in-depth partnerships with an ASEAN member, Ha noted, adding that the relationship entered a new chapter in January when the President of European Council’s visit upgraded it to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Vietnam ready to strengthen BRICS connection with Asia-Pacific

Hang called on countries to act responsibly in accordance with international law and the UN Charter; respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of states; refrain from using or threatening to use force; and settle disputes peacefully through dialogue. She also underscored the importance of ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation through straits in line with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Photo exhibition highlights Vietnam–DPRK relations

Visitors at the exhibition were moved by historical photographs dating back nearly 70 years, including images of the founding leader of the DPRK Kim Il Sung personally welcoming President Ho Chi Minh and a CPV delegation at Pyongyang’s Sunan International Airport during their visit to the DPRK from July 8–12, 1957. In return, the DPRK leader paid an official visit to Vietnam from November 27 to December 3, 1958.

Cao Bang, China’s Baise city eye to boost all-around cooperation

Ho Chi Minh City, Vientiane strengthen cooperation for 2026–2030
