Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man chaired the third meeting of the committee for drafting amendments and supplements to certain articles of the 2013 Constitution in Hanoi on June 9.

According to a recent report, more than 280 million opinions from individuals, agencies, and organisations have been collected on the draft resolution on amending specific articles of the 2013 Constitution. With an approval rate of 99.75%, the process reflects strong alignment between the Party’s guideline and public sentiment. Read full story

- State President Luong Cuong on June 9 told EU representatives his support for the bloc’s cooperation with Vietnam in green and digital transition, sustainable development, science-technology, renewable energy, and infrastructure.

Receiving EU Ambassador Julien Guerrier as well as ambassadors and chargés d’affaires of EU member states in Hanoi, the leader urged both sides to work closely to further strengthen ties in an equal and mutually beneficial manner, including enhancing all-level delegation exchanges to build political trust and drive cooperation in all areas. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the opening of the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France on June 9, joining global leaders in a renewed effort to advance Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 on the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.

Co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, the conference, running through June 13 under the theme “Accelerating Action and Mobilising All Actors to Conserve and Sustainably Use the Ocean”, has drawn representatives from over 120 countries, including more than 50 heads of state and government, and from international organisations, and about 100,000 attendees at related events. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid co-chaired the Deltas of the World Summit in Nice, France on June 9, held alongside the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3).

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has reaffirmed ASEAN’s position that upholds the values of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) – the “Constitution of the Oceans” – and its implementing agreements, as the comprehensive legal framework governing all activities in the oceans and seas.

Presenting a keynote speech on behalf of the 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the plenary session of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice, France, the PM emphasised ASEAN’s vital geographical position, which has for generations been at the heart of a maritime Asia—a convergence point of trade flows, cultures, and cooperation for centuries. - Vietnam’s garment and textile exports exceeded 17.58 billion USD in the first five months of 2025, up 9% compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, imports totalled 10.63 billion USD, resulting in a trade surplus of 6.95 billion USD for the sector, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS). Read full story

- A cooperation agreement between Vietnam’s Dong Luc Sports Group and the Lao Football Federation (LFF) was signed in Vientiane on June 9, aiming to provide Jogarbola-branded sportswear for the Lao national football team.

Under the agreement, from 2025 to 2029, Jogarbola will sponsor and supply official match kits, training gear, and high-quality sports equipment for all Lao national teams, including men’s, women’s, Olympic (U23), and youth teams under the Lao Football Federation. Read full story./.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung described the visits as particularly important and historic, taking place at a meaningful moment as Vietnam and India mark the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and just one month after the top leader of Vietnam assumed his new position. For Sri Lanka, this was the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
