– Party General Secretary To Lam stressed the importance of building a contingent of competent and capable officials to lead the country into a new era while talking to planned personnel groomed for membership of the 14th Party Central Committee on June 17.

Regarding the overarching goals, vision, and requirements for national development in the current period, General Secretary Lam emphasised that Vietnam is in the process of building socialism under the guidance of the Platform on national construction in the transition to socialism, which was supplemented in 2011, and defines both the overarching and directional goals for the country. Emphasising that in the implementation of this model, the contingent of officials and civil servants will be the key factor determining its success, Tra noted that restructuring and improving the quality of officials, civil servants, and public employees is no longer a choice, but an urgent requirement to transition from administrative management to governance in service of the people. – Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien called for intensified market surveillance and stronger legal frameworks to combat the rising tide of counterfeit goods and online trade fraud while addressing at the 15th National Assembly’s 9th session on June 17.

Dien acknowledged that despite concerted efforts by ministries and local authorities in combating fake and substandard goods, the situation remains highly complicated, attributing the persistent challenges to high profits luring numerous participants, increasingly sophisticated violations, limited resources within enforcement agencies. – Vietnam – New Zealand relations are entering their most dynamic phase to date, with both countries now among each other’s leading strategic partners in the region, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Phan Minh Giang.

In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) ahead of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and New Zealand (June 19, 1975–2025), Ambassador Giang noted that over the past half-century, the bilateral relationship has been steadily nurtured and strengthened, achieving remarkable progress and significant milestones. – Eighteen Vietnamese citizens living and working in Iran have been evacuated to a third country amidst the ongoing escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran, Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Nguyen Luong Ngoc said on June 17 afternoon (local time).

According to the diplomat, currently, 20 Vietnamese citizens remain in Iran, including embassy staff and personnel. All are safe, mentally stable, and in regular contact with the embassy. Read full story

– Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) is aiming to pull more than half of its energy from renewable sources, a step in Vietnam’s race to hit net-zero emissions by 2050, heard a local seminar on June 17.

– A project to produce insulation material from straw, which offers a green alternative to natural wood, by the Straw Wood team won the first prize of the Global Vietnam Business (GVB) Startup 2025 whose awarding ceremony was held in London, the UK, on June 15.

The organising committee also awarded the second prize to the Futuristic Microalgae team for their project using microalgae to treat wastewater from aquatic product processing plants.
