Binh Dinh province is located in Vietnam's south central coastal region. It is a tourist destination favored by many domestic and international tourists in recent years. In addition to fresh air, Binh Dinh is bestowed with beautiful landscapes and historical sites. The majority of Binh Dinh province is covered by mountains or hills. Elevations range from 0 at the coast to around 1,200 meters above sea level in An Lao district in the north-west of the province. Thien Hung Pagoda is located right at Highway 1A, in An Nhon commune and about 23km from Quy Nhon city center of the southern province of Binh Dinh. Thap Thap Di Da, a 17th century pagoda, adds to the charm of central province Binh Dinh with its cultural, historical and architectural beauty. Thap Thap Di Da is located 30 km north of coastal town Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh’s capital. The pagoda was built in 1683 during the Le Dynasty era and originally known as Chanh Hoa. In 1691 King Le Hien Tong renamed it Thap Thap Di Da. In the main area, the main structure is made of wood and carved with sophisticated and elaborate lotuses, dragons and stylized phoenixes along with more old writing. Thap Thap pagoda is known as the first ‘Shaolin temple’ in Vietnam because it is one of the branches of Shaolin temple firstly built in Vietnam in 1677. It was established by a Chinese monk when he came to Binh Dinh. Together with other monks, he then built other pagodas, including Long Phuoc. All monks in these pagodas mastered martial arts. They always built more pagodas and taught martial arts to their students, said monk Vien Kien, one of heads of Thap Thap pagoda. When the Chinese monk came here, this was still a desolate land. Referring to the remnant Cham architecture throughout Vietnam, Banh It tower is one of the oldest towers that preserves the very sophisticated and charming architectures from the Cham dynasty in Vietnam. The Banh It Towers are located about 20 kilometers from Quy Nhon, halfway between the airport and the city. The Banh It Towers are included in the book "1001 buildings you must see before you die", written by a group of British writers. Incidentally, this is the only architectural monument in Vietnam, which is included in the book. The Banh It is a very picturesque complex on a prominent hill between two branches of the river "Con". This river flows from the citadel of the royal city of Cham (now gone) to the bay of Qui Nhon. The towers have had quite a bit of restoration work, but original carvings still adorn the walls. Among the bow-shaped mountain range facing the sea, Eo Gio cliff is the farthest and most spectacular strait in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province. It is a part of a strait in Nhon Ly commune, 20km from the town. Eo Gio is situated between two tall rocky cliffs that drop straight into the clear waters of the sea below, giving it a beautiful crescent shape. Though it’s not safe to swim here since the waves are strong, visitors can enjoy a nice, romantic walk and catch some cool breeze on the small winding walkway built on the side of the mountain. The arc-shaped strait of Gio can be found 20km northeast from the centre of Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province. There are plenty of caves on Eo Gio’s cliffs, including Doi, Ky Co and Ba Nghe. At the foot of the mountain, Da De rock area stretches out with countless stones that look like eggs in different sizes and colors. At Eo Gio, visitors have a chance to enjoy the specialties of the Nhon Ly area and meet with friendly locals. Tinh Xa Ngoc Hoa (Ngoc Hoa Pagoda) is a famous pagoda in Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh. This place is a favorite destination for both tourists and religious pilgrims: while the Buddhists come here for religious purposes, visitors come to admire the architecture and especially the double Buddha statue here. Initially, Tinh Xa Ngoc Hoa was only built of light materials. Later, it was concreted and still retained its original basic features. The architecture is entirely in the style of the Khat Si sect, while the spacious main hall is designed in its own style, the Eightfold Path. Spectacular mountains and stunning coastline in Eo Gio is an attraction to visitors. Eo Gio’s appeal lies in the fact that it has barely been touched by nature. According to the documents, around 1929, a French priest named Paul Maheu discovered the rare tranquility of this land and he decided to build a treatment area for gill patients. The hospital was named Laproserie de Quy Hoa. In 1932, the hospital was rebuilt by Charles Antoine and Ozithe, with a home for long-term treatment. In addition to the hospital, Quy Hoa also has a church, nuns' residence and more than 200 houses for leprosy patients.
