Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar's tripartite Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) has convened at the Myanmar Peace Centre for the first time to prepare for drafting a dialogue framework under the peace process.
During the November 24 meeting, the UPDJC called for starting to draft the framework for holding dialogue before December 14 in accordance with the assigned ceasefire schedule and the formal dialogue targets to start before January 14, 2016 after the political dialogue framework is worked out.
Earlier, a union-level Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Committee (JCMC) was also formed to implement the Nationwide Ceasefire Accord (NCA) signed by the Government and eight ethnic armed groups on October 15.
According to the NCA, the two sides agreed on some post-ceasefire steps for adherence by both sides and the completion of the peace process.
The two sides were set to draw up a political framework within 60 days after the formal NCA signing and start a political dialogue within 90 days.-VNA
